Eligibility Criteria

To apply for SSC GD Constable exam, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th) or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.

Age Limit

18 to 23 years as on the specified date. Age relaxation applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.

Physical Standards

Height: 170 cm (Male) & 157 cm (Female). Chest: 80-85 cm (expandable) for males. Weight: Proportionate to height.

Important Note

Age relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government rules:

  • OBC: 3 years relaxation
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service
  • Others as per official notification

Exam Pattern & Selection Process

The SSC GD Constable selection process consists of four stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to proceed to the next.

Computer Based Test (CBT)

The first stage is a computer-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions. The exam pattern is as follows:

Marking Scheme

Each question carries 1 mark. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Unanswered questions will not attract any penalty.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates who qualify the CBT will be called for Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test.

For Male Candidates

Race: 5 km in 24 minutes

For Female Candidates

Race: 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes

Physical Standard Test (PST)

During PST, candidates’ height, chest (for males), and weight will be measured according to the prescribed standards.

Medical Examination

Candidates who qualify PET/PST will undergo a detailed medical examination to assess their fitness for the role.

Vision Standards

Distant vision: 6/6 or 6/9 (better eye) and 6/12 or 6/9 (worse eye). Near vision: N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye).

General Health

Candidates should be free from any disease or disability that may interfere with efficient performance of duties.

Medical Disqualifications

Conditions like squint, color blindness, knock knees, flat foot, varicose veins, etc. may lead to disqualification.

Document Verification

The final stage involves verification of original documents to confirm eligibility claims.
