Preparation Tips & Strategies

Effective preparation requires a strategic approach. Here are expert tips to help you prepare for the AIIMS entrance examination:

Understand the Exam Pattern

Familiarize yourself with the exam pattern, marking scheme, and question distribution. This helps in planning your preparation strategy effectively.

Master the NCERT Books

NCERT books form the foundation of your preparation. Read them thoroughly and make sure you understand all concepts before moving to advanced books.

Focus on Conceptual Understanding

AIIMS questions test conceptual understanding rather than rote learning. Focus on understanding the ‘why’ behind every concept.

Practice Previous Years’ Papers

Solve previous years’ question papers to understand the exam pattern, difficulty level, and frequently asked topics.

Take Mock Tests Regularly

Regular mock tests help in improving speed, accuracy, and time management. Analyze your performance after each test to identify weak areas.

Revision is Key

Regular revision is crucial for retention. Create short notes for quick revision before the exam.

Focus on Biology

Biology carries the maximum weightage. Give special attention to diagrams, definitions, and applications of biological concepts.

Don’t Neglect General Knowledge

GK might seem less important but can be a differentiator. Stay updated with current affairs, especially in the field of science and medicine.

Pro Tip: Create a study schedule that allocates time for each subject based on your strengths and weaknesses. Balance between learning new topics and revising old ones.

Cut-off Trends & Analysis

Understanding previous years’ cut-off trends helps in setting realistic targets and gauging the competition level.

Year General OBC SC ST
Recent Year 1 98-99 percentile 96-97 percentile 92-93 percentile 90-91 percentile
Recent Year 2 97-98 percentile 95-96 percentile 91-92 percentile 89-90 percentile
Recent Year 3 98-99 percentile 96-97 percentile 92-93 percentile 90-91 percentile
Recent Year 4 97-98 percentile 95-96 percentile 91-92 percentile 89-90 percentile

Note: Cut-off marks vary each year based on factors like difficulty level of the exam, number of applicants, and available seats. The above data is indicative of recent trends.

Factors Affecting Cut-off

Exam Difficulty

The difficulty level of the question paper significantly impacts the cut-off. A tougher paper generally results in lower cut-offs.

Number of Applicants

Higher number of applicants typically leads to higher competition and consequently higher cut-off marks.

Available Seats

The total number of seats available across all AIIMS institutions affects the cut-off percentage.

Previous Year Trends

Cut-off trends from previous years often influence the current year’s cut-off expectations.
