What is AFCAT?
AFCAT is a national level examination conducted by the Indian Air Force twice a year to select candidates for officer cadre in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Successful candidates undergo training at various Air Force establishments.
Exam Frequency
AFCAT is conducted twice a year – usually in February and August/September. The notification is released approximately 4-5 months before the exam date.

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria

- Citizen of India
- Subjects of Nepal/Bhutan (with certificate of eligibility)
- Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1st January 1962 (with certificate of eligibility)
- Persons of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (with certificate of eligibility)

Flying Branch
- Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks
- Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level with minimum 60% marks
- BE/B.Tech degree (4 years) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks
Technical Branch
- Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): Degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 60% marks
- Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): Degree in Engineering/Technology with minimum 60% marks
Non-Technical Branch
- Administration: Graduate degree (Minimum 3 years) in any discipline with 60% marks
- Accounts: B.Com degree (Minimum 3 years) with 60% marks
- Logistics: Graduate degree (Minimum 3 years) in any discipline with 60% marks
- Education: Post-Graduation degree in any discipline with 50% marks
